The Mountain Tubing Adventure is truly a unique and memorable experience for the entire family!
Hop in a four-wheel-drive adventure vehicles and traverse former Lihue Plantation lands deep into Kauai’s pristine emerald green interior. Enjoy breathtaking vistas and spectacular scenery, while your guide shares information about our island. When you arrive at the launch site you’ll grab a tube, don a headlamp, and jump in the gently flowing waters. Witness Kauai’s spectacular, historical engineering feats as you float down the open canals, through several amazing tunnels and flumes engineered and hand dug circa 1870. Enjoy the wonder and magic of each tunnel, lit by headlamps. At the end of your adventure enjoy delicious snacks and a cool dip in a natural swimming hole.

Do you provide wet suits if the water is too cold? We are planning on coming the last week of April 2011.
Aloha Nancy. YES, they do have wetsuits (tops only) for rent at $6 per person. Mountain Tubing is extremely popular and does sell out so do not wait much longer. Is there any hiking involved in this tour?
This tour actually has very little hiking. You will need to be able to walk up & down 13 steps. Call me toll free @ 1-866-897-1637 I can answer any other questions you might have & get you reserved for this awesome tour!
What is the best way to get to your adventure? We will be coming from the Pride of America cruise ship. I heard there was very little parking available if you have a rental car. Looking forward to this excursion!
This tour is about a 10 minute drive from the cruise ship dock in Nawiliwili. If you do have a rental car there will be parking available for you. Otherwise I would recommend taking a taxi cab. I will email you directions when you make your reservation.

Our 15 year old daughter said it was the highlight of our week on Kauai!. We enjoyed it all: the scenery on the trip up the mountain , the exciting ride downriver through the dark, dark tunnels, the tranquil picnic spot for lunch and the humor of our guides. Is the water cold?
The water is cooler than the air, but comfortable for the duration you are in the water.
My husband and I will be coming in just a few weeks and are very interested in this tour. I will be 16 weeks pregnant at the time of our trip. I have seen some that do not recommend this tour if you are expecting. Is this strictly a recommendation or will they not allow you to do this tour? We have several friends and family members who have done it before and seem to think it would be fine.

My Husband, myself and another couple visited your site about three years ago and LOVED it! We are planning a trip with our Family of 6 in August and have a few questions.

We are coming over from Australia in March and are interested in doing both the ziplining and the tubing there is it possible to schedule both tours for the one day. Also we are planning on staying in Lihue so would it be expensive to get a taxi to and from there and are taxi’s easy to get
Aloha Belinda! You could do both Zipline and Tubing in the same day for sure! If you are staying in Lihue you will be close to the check in point. When you fill out the online reservation form in the comments field ask for some local taxi phone numbers and I will be sure email you some so you can easily arrange your transportation. Keep in mind the Tubing and Zipline tours do sell out so it is never to early to reserve your tours!
Is this ok for kids 9-11?
Aloha Susan! Yes this tour is great for all kids over 5 years old. The Mountain Tubing Adventure is a lot of fun for families and books up weeks in advance so be sure to reserve your tour soon!
Hi, what time slot would you recommend booking for the tubing? Just curious what time is best to go. I’m not a strong swimmer. Is the water flowing fast or deep? It looked shallow to me. Thanks! 🙂
Aloha! The Tubing tours start as early and go through the day into the late afternoon depending on availability. I like to remind people that you will be served a deli style lunch on the tour so the morning tours are nice because you eat lunch at a normal time. However it is up to you and your schedule. Keep in mind Kauai has great weather all day, not to hot & not to cool! The water is less than 3 ft deep and life jackets are provided if you would like to wear one. To celebrate my 50th birthday we decided to go “Hawaii 5-0” and spend a week on Kauai. First off 7 days was not enough. We’ll definitely do 10 days next time. My husband and I really enjoyed this adventure. It’s an easy float down and the tour guides were a lot of fun. After the float taking a dip in the pond was fun and lunch was good. I would recommend this to everyone of all ages (except if your claustrophobic, you probably won’t enjoy going through the tunnels).

Aloha Helen! We offer lots of great activities for young children. Some of my favorite are the ATV tours, they can ride along as a passenger in several of the vehicles. The Napali Coast Snorkel Tours are awesome as well. Luaus, Air Tours too! I have a couple ziplines they can do as well. Check out our Nui Loa Zipline and Iki Mua Zipline. You just have to be 7 years old for both of those! As for the Tubing Tour the price is per person with no different child rate. I am coming in July with my mother who is 65. She’s not much into water sports or vigorous activities, but I want her to experience this. How strenuous is your mountain tubing experience? Is there someone to catch you if you fall out of tube and how often do people actually fall out? Is there possibility of injury? Can I coordinate to be in a tube right net to hers or that’s impossible?

Aloha Alina! These are great questions. This tour is not strenuous however you do need to be in good physical condition. The water is only about 3ft deep, there is no one to catch you if you fall out, there are guides with you in the water. You can put your tube in next to hers and stay by her. A good rule of thumb for this tour is can you stay in a reclined position (like you are sitting in a recliner) for 45 minutes? Children as young as 5 and adults as old as 82 have been out on this tour, just be sure she is up for the adventure!
Does the tube ride include the 4 wheel transportation to the starting point? If not do you have transportation BACK to the starting point? Thanks
Aloha Chuck! You will have to check in at the Tubing location in Hanamaulu. From there in an old military vehicle you will be driven to and back up country to the actual canal where you tube.
Does your tubing adventures have weight restrictions like the NCL tubing adventures.

My wife and I will be in Kauai in September. She will be 5 months pregnant. Is she allowed to participate in the tubing tour?
Aloha Ralph! Yes she can participate. As long as she has her doctors approval to be active. She does not need a doctors note. This tour books up weeks in advance so give us a call today to book your spots!

Aloha Julie! As soon as you can pick your date reserve this tour. Tubing always sells out. There is a 72 hour cancellation policy. If you need to change your reservation, or cancel it, you can do that without penalty up to 72 hours before your tour.
There is 10 of us in our group, do you offer or reccommend transportation from NCL cruise port to and from you location?
Aloha Sharon! You will need to take a taxi or rent a car. This tour does not offer transportation. The cruise ship port is about 10 minutes away from the check in point. Be sure to book your Tubing reservation as soon as you can it always sells out in advance.
Question:
We notice that helmets are not listed on your “Provided” list; however, the person in the photo on your web page is wearing a helmet. Our concern is safety for our 5 yr. old. Do you have a helmet for her to wear?

We had several guides during our vacation on Kauai that were great. However the best by far was Micah @ Kauai Backcountry Adv. He convinced my leery grandson that he was brave enough to tube alone. Both he and Christian were excellent guides! ~ Mueller Family
Aloha! How much walking is required for this? My father has a bit of trouble with walking.
Aloha! You will need to be able to take a short walk from the tour bus to the edge of the canal. Then there are 5-6 steps down you need to do to get into the Tube. Please call toll free at 1-866-897-1637 to make sure this tour is ok for him to do.
Is this tour safe for pregnant women or do you have restrictions on that?
Aloha Fanessa! This tour is ok for women who are pregnant if they have the ok from their doctor to be active. You need to be able to sit in a reclined position for 45 minutes. Please let us know at the time of booking how far along you are. Let me know if you have any other questions.
We stayed in Kauai last May 2014. This was by far the best activity we did as a family. We are going to Maui this year, but plan to fly to Kauai for a day just to take this very unique tubing tour. It was so much fun. They start the tour with a short walking tour and give information and history about the area as you make your way to the tubing area. Tubing had dark tunnels and some rushing water. Gloves are necessary (they provide) because you will occasionally need to push off of rocks. After tubing, there is a cold cut sandwich style picnic. I wish the tubing portion of this excursion was a little longer, but we had a great time!

Does the 5 year old have to be a certain height to ride?
I had a question regarding the footwear and is meant by “water friendly shoes”. Could you recommend some brands or even links to shoes on amazon/zappos or what your guides wear? Thanks.

Aloha Jon, Water friendly shoes meaning shoes you do not mind to get wet. You will be wearing them while tubing, they need to have a secure back strap so you do not loose them. Like Tevas, chacos & aqua socks. Any kind of sport sandal or old tennis shoes will work too!

My friend and I signed up after hearing from another friend that it was amazing, and my god it did not disappoint. Our tour guides, Marcus and BJ/PJ (honestly not sure which one it it, I apologize) made the tour 10x better. They were hilarious, kind, and quite knowledgeable about the island. Shout-out to our driver, Dustin, for being awesome! Another shout-out to whoever was playing the ukulele and singing, because it echoed through the caves and made the experience another 10x better. 10/10 would recommend!!

We went today, there is not enough room to say all of the good things about this experience. So much fun, beautiful, well organized excursion I have ever been on. Not only was the float amazing, the people who guide, sign you up, and get you up to the site were AMAZING. Entertaining, friendly, and the best thing! We had our 7 year old Granddaughter with us and they were spectacular with her. We all enjoyed it so much. Don’t miss this place. So. Worth It.

I just wanted to take a moment and give HUGE MAHALO‘S!!!! We went Tuesday Jan 25th at 1:00pm, Kannan was our main guide (might have spelled that name wrong, if I did, my bad). Our little daughter who has Down’s Syndrome, she’s 9 years old took to him very fast. He let here sit next to him, he talked to her the whole trip, even made sure she stayed with him during the floating portion. He was so sweet and awesome with her!! He has a huge heart!! Not many people see her for her, well, he sure did!! Thank you from a father of one who doesn’t get to see that kind of treatment most of the time.

Can we bring drinks along with us?
Aloha Denise, You can bring a water bottle with you or another beverage of your choice (non-alcoholic) on tour however you will not have it while you are in the actual tube tubing down the canal. You will have access to it before and after the tubing portion. On the ride up into the backcountry and after the tubing at the lunch stop. Let us know if you have any other questions along the way. This tour sells out far in advance so best to make your reservation as soon as possible.

I was there, Friday, October 27th. It was fun, but different than I expected. It does get rough in some places and gets going pretty fast. You go through caves and we were told to turn off our lights in last cave. Somehow, I ended up flipping over and hard to get back up because of rushing water and other tubers. They could not see me because our lights were turned off. I scraped my knees all up and wrist and ankle. Scary experience! I would not have anyone turn off their lights in the caves.
My husband is an amputee (leg). He is very fit, so I’m not worried about him physically, but his prosthetic can not get wet. Can we give it to someone while he is in the water, and could it be available when he gets out of the water on the other side?
