Napali means “the cliffs” and you’ll see how apt that name is when you gaze upon its world-renown 3,500-foot heights, green valleys, waterfalls and hidden beaches. The crew will entertain your imagination with stories of the Hawaiians who once lived there. The Napali Coast is a sight to be enjoyed from sea level!

Your camera will be doing all the work while you simply relax and take in all that Kauai has to offer.

Upon leaving the Port Allen Harbor, we’ll make our way along the historic western coast of Kauai. The crew will talk story about Captain Cook’s adventures on the Garden Island, the rise and fall of the sugar cane industry, and regale you with tales of the industrious Menehune — and that’s before you even arrive on the Napali Coast! Once there, you will be in awe of the sheer majesty of her steep cliffs, and breadth and depth of her verdant valleys where Hawaiian civilizations once thrived. You’ll search for whales (in season), dolphins, turtles, seals and other sea life while the crew prepares your savory feast.

Dinner will be served underway and consists of hot main entree served with garlic bread, fresh salad, side dishes and a yummy dessert to satisfy that sweet tooth. Champagne, beer, wine, and soft drinks are served throughout the cruise, with a special moment of awe at the beautiful Kauai sunset. This tour returns to port after sunset.

Tour Information:

Tour length 4.5 hours

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday only

Tour time 2:00pm, varies by season

No other place in Hawaii offers you such unique formations, you will have the opportunity to see Niihau and Lehua up close and personal. Niihau’s old age means it has been shaped and carved by ocean currents and waves the longest of all the Hawaiian Islands.

After snorkeling, enjoy a gourmet deli-style buffet lunch. Choose from a variety of deli meats, cheeses, veggies and breads to make your sandwich a work of art! Also included are pasta and fresh fruits. Assorted soft drinks are served throughout the tour, with beer and wine served after snorkeling. While you are eating you will talk story about the island, the people and history of Niihau with the crew.

This sail starts with a short briefing and introduction as you depart from Port Allen and head West, then North and upwind on the Na Pali (depending on the conditions).

Meanwhile a team of on board chefs will get busy preparing the fresh meal. Unlike other charter boats, Southern Star is equipped with a full galley (kitchen) and bar.

On most days the Hawaiian tradewinds are blowing from the East, which makes for a perfect downwind sail once you reach the turnaround point. The crew’s objective on this sail is to position the boat for a calm, downwind sail during dinner service. Once the turnaround is reached, the crew will power down Southern’s twin diesels and hoist the massive mainsail and jib. Now you’re set up for some sailing, relaxing and yummy food.
